Biography

Alexandre Garcia made his debut in urban dance by joining the New Style Crew collective, a local hip-hop group based in the Yeumbeul Comico district of Senegal. In 2016, with his friends, he joined the National School of Arts and entered his fifth year of studies. In 2017, he obtained a diploma in “Teaching, Pedagogy, Transmission, History of Dance and Technique of Different Urban Dances” from the Sunu Street collective at the Regional Cultural Center of Dakar Blaise Senghor. Between 2016 and 2018, he participated in events such as the Dakar Biennial of Contemporary African Art, the Hip-hop Game concept (founded by choreographer Romuald Brizolier and his company Art-Track) and Africa’s Got Talent (Ivory Coast). In 2020, Alexandre Garcia joined the company Cinquième dimension and worked with the choreographer Jean Tamba. In 2021, he obtained his state diploma in choreographic dance with first prize at the National School of Fine Arts of Dakar, and joined the Fatou Cissé company in the show Performance D. In November 2022 he participates as dancer in the choreographic creation of the piece, ‘il pleuvait et’. In January 2023, he was the assistant choreographer for the opening of the National Festival of Arts and Culture of Senegal (fesnac).
