The Pina Bausch Foundation has released a film version of Pina Bausch's piece Palermo Palermo. The film is available for free via the Foundation's website. Prior to the release, there was a premiere in Wuppertal. 200 guests were able to preview the film at the former Schauspielhaus.

A roundtable discussion took place before the film. Leoluca Orlando (Mayor of the City of Palermo), Jan Minařík (Former ensemble member Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch), Matthias Burkert (Musical Collaborator Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch) and Ismaël Dia (Director of the Archives Pina Bausch Foundation) participated. Prasanna Oommen moderated the conversation. Together they talked about the piece, the film and the Pina Bausch Archive. The audience could participate in the conversation.

Palermo Palermo - A film of a piece by Pina Bausch

For a film version of the piece Palermo Palermo, the Pina Bausch Foundation edited together individual film clips from the archives. Since the footage is very old, it had to be digitized and enhanced. The footage was filmed by the film production company Metrovision. It belonged to the French publisher L'Arche Editeur for a long time. Before the Foundation edited a film from the material, it purchased the footage from L'Arche Editeur. The purchase was financially supported by the Kunststiftung NRW and the Kulturstiftung der Länder.
